cboe BZX Exchange Inc. has refiled applications for a spot Solana exchange-traded fund (ETF) on behalf of several firms, including Canary, Bitwise, 21Shares, and VanEck.
These 19b-4 filings, which are submitted by exchanges on behalf of issuers, officially initiate the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s review process for these Solana ETF proposals.
Previous applications for Solana ETFs were rejected last year at the SEC’s request. However, with the current administration’s more crypto-friendly stance, many anticipate a higher likelihood of Solana ETF approval in 2025.
This optimism follows the successful approval of Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024 and Ethereum ETFs later that year during the previous administration.
