Hackers Steal $39M from Decentralized Finance Projects

In January 2024, a total of $126 million in digital currencies was stolen by cybercriminals and fraudsters. A significant portion of this amount, $39 million, was taken from the decentralized finance market known as DeFi.

According to startup Quantstamp, the preferred method of attack by hackers last month was through hacking smart contracts.

They also employed various tactics to gain access to crypto wallet keys. One of the most significant attacks was on the Radiant Capital protocol, resulting in the theft of 1900 ether valued at $4.5 million.

Another notable attack occurred on the Gamma project, causing damage of $6.18 million, as highlighted by the startup.
