Once again, a court in Montenegro has rejected a previous decision made by a lower court to extradite Do Kwon to the United States.
The Appellate Court of Montenegro announced on March 5 that they have overturned the High Court of Podgorica’s approval of Kwon’s extradition, citing significant violations of criminal procedure laws.
The High Court of Podgorica had previously granted the extradition on February 20, but the Appellate Court found no valid reasons to support this decision.
This is the latest development in the long extradition process of Kwon, who was arrested in Montenegro in March 2023. The United States and South Korea have both requested his extradition, leading to ongoing debates on whether Kwon should be sent to his home country or not.
