Asset manager BlackRock has filed an application to launch an exchange-traded fund (ETF) with a focus on the metaverse.
According to Bloomberg, the iShares Future Metaverse Tech and Communications ETF has yet to receive a ticker. The company did not disclose the size of the commissions.
The instrument may contain shares of companies that have products or services tied to, among other things, virtual platforms, social networks, games, digital assets and augmented reality.
The structure from BlackRock will compete with similar ETFs from Roundhill Investments, Subversive, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton and ProShares.
