SEC Ordered to Disclose Internal Documents in Ripple Case

A US court has ordered the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to disclose internal documents in the case against Ripple.

According to lawyer James Filan, we are talking about the text of the speech of the former director of the corporate finance department of the regulator William Hinman from 2018. Then he stated that for various reasons, Bitcoin and Ethereum are not securities.

The regulator has argued the former official’s speech reflected his personal views. In February, the Commission filed a motion with the court, according to which Hinman expressed the position of the corporate finance department. So the agency hoped to extend the DPP to the drafts of the speech.

On July 12, Judge Sarah Netburn called the regulator’s position hypocrisy and denied a motion to withhold disclosure of internal documents.
