The second stage of testing the digital yuan started in China at the beginning of the year. Many tech companies, as well as retail chains, have become participants in the CBDC trials conducted by the central bank of the country.
According to the regulator, the volume of transactions using the token has already exceeded 100 billion yuan ($14 billion) at the pilot stage.
As a result, the Chinese national digital currency has become the most widely used in the world. By the end of last summer, the number of CBDC transactions in 15 provinces of China reached 360 million.
Some government agencies can also use the CBDC.
