According to MicroStrategy’s co-founder and executive chairman, Michael Saylor, the company has purchased an additional 5,262 BTC for around $561 million. They paid an average price of $106,662 per bitcoin for the new purchase.
With this acquisition, the company now holds a total of 444,262 BTC, currently valued at over $40 billion. This brings the total amount spent by MicroStrategy on bitcoin to $27.7 billion.
In October, the company announced plans to raise $42 billion in capital to continue purchasing bitcoin for its treasury reserve strategy.
As of Dec. 15, they still had $7.65 billion worth of shares available for sale as part of their planned $21 billion equity offering and $21 billion in fixed-income securities.
This is the seventh consecutive week that MicroStrategy has announced an acquisition of bitcoin. Last week, they bought 15,350 BTC.
