The Constitutional Court of Montenegro has rejected an appeal from Do Kwon, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency industry, over an extradition verdict. According to a report from the Montenegro daily Vijesti, the appeal was denied due to legal reasons.
As a result, the country’s justice minister will now decide whether Kwon will face trial in Montenegro or be extradited to the United States.
The justice ministry has indicated that they are likely to extradite Kwon to the US, where he is wanted for investigation and indictment related to the collapse of his company’s cryptocurrencies in May of 2022.
Kwon, who co-founded the crypto firm Terraform Labs, is facing charges from both Korea and the US for the crash of the TerraUSD and Luna coins.
